![]() Hello Hockey Fans It seems like forever since the last time I contributed to the "Coaches Corner" portion of the website but it has been a busy December. In all honesty things didn't go as planned for the month as we dropped games vs Lillehammer, M/S and Storhamar. The bright spot of the month was a win vs Stjernen where Andreas Micka picked up his first win of the season and Inge Stokvik contributed 4 points in a winning effort. The explanation in my opinion for the drop-off in play has been our defensive game where we seem to be "out of synch" (giving up too many quality scoring chances), not getting the big goal and not following through with a FULL 60 minute effort which was the strong point of our team during our winning streak. When these three aspects of our game are removed we face challenges to win hockey games...plain and simple. Our mental toughness and team play needs to improve on a nightly basis in order for us to get back to our winning ways. I know the players are disappointed in the latest results and I expect them to redeem themselves in the games following the Christmas break. - As far as the team goes, the latest activity has been Sander Valde (U20) and Petter R. Fossen (Senior Team) both played in Christmas Tournaments for the National Team at their respective levels. From all accounts both played very well and represented both Rosenborg and Trondheim in a proud fashion. In addition, some unfortunate news to announce on Emil Volden who has sustained a lower body injury and will be out of action for approximately 6 weeks. We will definitely miss Emil during this time and wish him a speedy recovery (I'm hoping 4 weeks)!! - The next action for our team is December 28th vs VIF at Jordal and then a home game December 30th vs Sparta. I've heard there's a lot of excitement building for this game so we are all hoping for a big and wild crowd that night at Leangen!! - We are officially off as of tomorrow until December 26th when we will again begin training and preparation for our upcoming games. It's been a tough grind this season thus far so the boys definitely deserve the time off with their friends and family. I expect the guys to comeback recharged and full of energy for the remainder of the season! In closing, on behalf of our entire organization we sincerely wish all a safe and Happy Holiday Season. We at Rosenborg are very grateful to everyone for the support we have received so far this season along with the positive feedback we have received even through some of the down-times that every team will have during a year. Thank you to all the supporters and sponsors of Rosenborg Hockey; without you there would be no hockey in Trondheim! Merry Christmas, Wayde Bucsis Head Coach |
